Join CultureSource, the Michigan Arts and Culture Council, and our panel of experts as we discuss the status of arts policy at the federal and state level. We’ll take an in-depth look at advocacy activities taking place to increase support for the arts sector, and new funding opportunities coming online to support the creative economy’s recovery.

This workshop is the second in a series of virtual convenings designed to help the arts sector get calibrated to sector-wide trends and share inspiration and insights with peers. All sessions are free for members, $25 for non-members.
Panelists
Alison Watson
Alison is the Executive Director for the Michigan Arts and Culture Council. MACC serves to encourage, develop and facilitate an enriched environment of creative and cultural activity in Michigan. Watson has numerous years of expertise in Michigan’s arts and cultural sector and has held leadership roles at the Michigan Theater in Jackson, the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Jackson County as well as program work with VSA Michigan, ArtServe Michigan and the Michigan Association of Community Arts Agencies.
Isaac Brown
Isaac works with the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies board and membership to advance state arts agencies’ federal policy interests on Capitol Hill and with the National Endowment for the Arts. Isaac is a partner at the public-policy consulting firm 38 North Solutions. Before joining the firm, he worked in the U.S. House of Representatives as legislative director and floor assistant to Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL). Prior to his work with Representative Schakowsky, Isaac served on the Democratic staff of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee under the leadership of Henry Waxman.
Melissa McKinley
Melissa joined Kelley Cawthorne over 18 years ago and has extensive experience in public advocacy, improving communities, and growing organizations. Melissa combines innovative strategies with proven messaging, policy, and business expertise to help her clients shape meanigful change. Melissa works with the Michigan Professional Firefighters Union, AIA-Michigan, ACEC, Wayne State University, and Special Olympics of Michigan.
